With over three decades in the travel industry and a lifetime of journeys beginning at age 5, I’ve decided to embark on a new adventure: becoming an author. But before I handed over my passport to be stamped, I was plagued with questions. Can I write? Would anyone be interested in what I had to say? Do people even buy books?
The answer, I realised, was simple. I possess a wealth of knowledge and extensive experience in an industry that has undergone dramatic changes. It’s time to share these insights.
Writing, contrary to Hollywood depictions of authors in a constant state of flow, can be a daunting task. Finding the right words is often challenging. However, nothing could be more daunting than navigating travel in our post-COVID, internet-driven world.
The travel industry faces constant evolution:
Consider the recent phenomenon of the Stanley Cup – one woman’s tragedy turned into a global explosion of travel cup popularity, demonstrating the power of social media and how travel trends can transcend physical boundaries. So why “Travel with Purpose”? The answer is simple yet profound. Travel has the power to move us not just physically but emotionally, mentally, and even spiritually, taking us on a journey of the senses and self-development.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and we are human, after all. Progress takes time, but it’s now time to start seeing travel in a deeper way and, in that journey, rediscovering our “Humanity” again, both as travellers and as individuals working in the industry. We need meaningful travel experiences.
Modern travellers are increasingly seeking:
My role as a business owner in this industry is to make this happen in the best way possible.
Three big questions for me post-pandemic,
The answer was simple: TRAVEL!
Travel is an industry, a supply chain, an experience and a philosophy; it affects everything and anything, voluntary and involuntary. As I put my foot forward and embrace not only my profession but the changes in an industry that could be as unprecedented as the entire world stopping for some time, I hope to do so with nothing but pure passion, grace and love, for my clients and the industry – I hold these so dear to my heart.
